Year End 2010 Projections (preliminary):
Real Users | 67,044,340 |
Peak Users | 27,740,820 |
This represents growth of 35.58% which is not coincidentally the same as the growth rate in 2009. I suspect that the final 2010 projection will show "real users" somewhat higher than the above preliminary projection, and the "peak users" somewhat lower.
In the first few days after the Christmas holiday, Skype grew faster than ever before, adding 2.5 million new real users in the first 11 days.
Since people follow the "million threshold peak" statistic closely, here are my predictions on when Skype will hit each threshold of this year of concurrent users online:
Date | Online Threshold | Days since prior |
11/7/10 | 28,000,000 | 40 |
9/28/10 | 27,000,000 | 15 |
9/13/10 | 26,000,000 | 140 |
4/26/10 | 25,00,0000 | 40 |
3/17/10 | 24,000,000 | 30 |
2/15/10 | 23,000,000 | 20 |
1/26/10 | 22,000,000 | 15 |
1/11/10 | 21,000,000 | 63 |
I'll have more to say later about both the 2010 projections and the 2009 analysis, and will post to this blog when they are ready.
In the meantime, check out the 2009 year-end graphs
